Prosafe Consultancy Company Ltd recently delivered a Basic Boiler Operation, Maintenance, and Safety Training for staff at Abacus Parenteral Drugs Limited (APDL). The training strengthened operators’ technical knowledge, improved regulatory compliance, and reinforced a strong safety culture around boiler operations.
Boilers are essential to pharmaceutical production, but they can pose serious risks when operated or maintained incorrectly. Safe boiler use therefore requires both technical competence and strict compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health (Amendment) Act, Cap 231.
Training Approach
The programme combined classroom presentations, group discussions, and practical demonstrations. Participants also reviewed real-life boiler accident case studies, which highlighted the consequences of bypassing safety procedures and the importance of following established protocols.
Hands-on sessions at the APDL boiler facility allowed participants to apply what they learned under the guidance of Prosafe trainers. This practical exposure helped bridge the gap between theory and safe day-to-day operation.

Key Focus Areas
The training focused on:
- Safe boiler start-up, operation, and shutdown procedures
- Routine inspection and preventive maintenance
- Identification of common boiler hazards and warning signs
- Safe handling of pressure, steam, fuel, and water systems
- Emergency response and incident reporting
- Compliance with applicable OSH requirements
Building a Safer Workplace
By equipping boiler operators with practical skills and safety awareness, APDL is strengthening the protection of its workers, equipment, and production processes. Well-trained operators are better placed to detect problems early, follow safe procedures, and respond effectively when issues arise.
Prosafe Consultancy commends Abacus Parenteral Drugs Limited for investing in workforce competence and boiler safety. This training supports safer operations, regulatory compliance, and a workplace culture where safety remains a shared responsibility.
